LONG BEACH – LaDawn Best, board president with the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach, will serve a second term starting in January.
Best joined the board of directors in 2014 and was first elected president in 2015.
Best was re-elected during the Center’s December 12 meeting, according to a press release emailed this week.
The governing board also elected three other executive committee members:
Justin Potier as vice president (he was treasurer)
Ron Nelson as treasurer
Sylvia Rodemeyer as secretary (her third term)
Also, community leaders Otis Hogan and Jay Hong were elected to the board. Hogan serves on the Long Beach Human Relations Commission, while Hong is executive director of the East Village’s Art Exchange.
The executive committee and full board are responsible for providing strategic oversight and fundraising support for the Center.
In the past five years, the Center has tripled its budget and quadrupled staffing.
For 2017, the Center’s annual budget will be more than $1.5 million, the largest it’s been in more than 10 years.
