UPDATE: David Cooley, boyfriend split & call off engagement

WEST HOLLYWOOD – Wedding bells are ringing for West Hollywood-nightlife impresario David Cooley.

Cooley, who owns the venerable WeHo watering hole The Abbey and The Chapel at The Abbey, which opened next door in November, announced his engagement to boyfriend Leonet Esparza Osario on social media three days after Christmas.

LEO SAID YES!!! WE GOT ENGAGED !!! I love him so much !!! The best thing that has happen to me !!! #amazing #xoxoxo,” Cooley posted on Instagram and Facebook.

Cooley also posted a photo of their clutching hands wearing matching wedding bands.

Cooley spokesman Brian Rosman said no wedding date has been set yet.

The Abbey, which started as a 1,000 square-foot coffee house and has grown into a 14,000 square foot bar-restaurant-club, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

In June, Cooley announced he had partner with Bottega Louie to bring a second location of the restaurant-market-patisserie to West Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard, just around the corner from The Abbey and The Chapel.
