‘Depeche Mode: Spirits in the Forest’ movie trailer released

Depeche Mode released the official trailer Thursday for “Depeche Mode: Spirits in the Forest.”

The feature-length movie was filmed during Depeche Mode’s 2017-2018 Global Spirit Tour and explores the emotional stories of six Depeche Mode fans from across the globe.

‘Spirits in the Forest’

The film also gives audiences a poignant look into the band’s music and its power to connect and empower people.

“I’m exceptionally proud to share this film and the powerful story that it tells,” lead singer Dave Gahan said in a statement. “It’s amazing to see the very real ways that music has impacted the lives of our fans.”

Pioneering band

The pioneering electronica-rock band formed in 1980 in England and have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. Their catalogue of hits include “A Question of Lust,” “Stripped,” “Behind the Wheel,” “Personal Jesus,” “World in My Eyes,” “I Feel You,” “It’s No Good,” and “Wrong.”

In December 2016, Billboard named Depeche Mode the 10th most successful dance club artist of all time.

“Depeche Mode: Spirits in the Forest” integrates concert footage from the band’s final shows of the Global Spirit Tour at Berlin’s famed Waldbühne (“Forest Stage”).

The 60-second trailer shows the six fans talking about their lives, sometimes difficult and challenging, and how Depeche Mode’s music has helped them cope and find the strength to keep moving forward.

During the band’s Global Spirit Tour, Depeche Mode played to more than 3 million fans in 115 concerts around the world. Those dates included four historic sold-out performances at the Hollywood Bowl —The first time in the venue’s history that a band sold out four consecutive nights.

Anton Corbijn

“Depeche Mode: Spirits in the Forest” is directed by award-winning filmmaker and long-time artistic collaborator Anton Corbijn. The dutch photographer has worked with the band since 1986 when he directed their “A Question of Time” video.

He subsequently directed “Never Let Me Down Again,” “Behind the Wheel,” “Personal Jesus,” “Enjoy the Silence,” “I Feel You,” and “Walking in My Shoes.”

Corbijn also directed the “Devotional” concert film about Depeche Mode’s Devotional Tour and was responsible for the tours visuals and images.

“Depeche Mode: Spirits in the Forest” will open worldwide November 21. Tickets are available here.
