Come out, come out wherever you are —It’s time for Palm Springs Pride 2022.

This year marks the 36th celebration. On Thursday, the City of Palm Springs officially designated the block of Arenas Road between Indian Canyon Drive and Calle Encilia as the Arenas District. It’s the LGBTQ+ area in Palm Springs, clustered with bars, restaurants, shopping, old school barbering, piercing services, and more.

This queer destination began to take shape in the early 1990s. The first gay bar opened on Arenas Road in 1991, while most surrounding buildings were vacant storefronts.

Also, the rainbow crosswalk at Calle Encilia and Arenas Road was designated Drag Queen Crossing.
